As I’m sure you’re all aware of by now, I have a certain affinity for tentacle-related sex toys. And, naturally, I was absolutely juiced to see that Babeland now has a sparkly glass tentacle dildo by the name of “Octopussy”.
(Technically, it’s No. 24 in Pipedream's Icicles new line. That really doesn’t have the ring to it that “Octopussy” does, though. )
Textures
Looking like a cross between a creature of the deep and Cinderella’s sparkly glass slipper, the Octopussy is much different than the rest of my tentacle sex toys. The suckers are actually just bumps and there is a crease down the middle like you would see if you try to fold your tongue in half length-wise. Also, there’s some veining on the underneath that reminds me of a leaf. Really, the part that looks most like a tentacle is the handle, which curves and tapers to a rounded point. I love the design, though.
Time for a Surprise!
Get ready for a shocker. I actually showed this tentacle to hubby!
Yeah, I finally had the guts to show him one of my tentacle sex toys. I suppose you’re wondering why. Well, the reason is that the Octopussy isn’t as realistic. To me, it’s more of a stylized tentacle sex toy with a pretty pink sparkle than a floppy, soft, realistic tentacle sex toy. He gave me that weird look and told me it looks “interesting”. (I swear, that’s one of the only few words he knows. If he doesn’t start giving me something more descriptive or even just different words when I ask him about my sex toys, I’m going to slap him.
) I don’t really think he knows it’s supposed to be a tentacle sex toy. Maybe I’ll eventually work up to telling him about the others… maybe…
My Favorite Bit
This may sound strange, but I think my favorite part of the Octopussy is the handle. I mean, just look at it. It’s gorgeous…
And this toy just screams luxe to me and I keep getting this thought that if I were a rich girl, a glass tentacle monster like the Octopussy would be coming after me instead of one of the run-of-the-mill tentacle monsters.
Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, the handle is a very nice addition to the Octopussy. Glass sex toys can get slippery very fast even if they’re textured. There’s no chance of losing grip on this bad boy.
The Phantom Tentacle that Strikes in the Night
The day I had gotten the Octopussy, I was sort of waiting for hubby to want to try it out on me. Afterall, he did seem intrigued and asked if I had used it yet. No such luck that day, though. And when I got into the bedroom, hubby was already flopped over on the other side of the bed. I figured I might as well take things into my own hands, rolled over onto my tummy, and inserted the Octopussy. I got a few slow thrusts in and felt like I was getting close, but hubby rolled over. I didn’t really want him to know what I was up to, so I carefully pulled the Octopussy out and put it back in my pillow.
I got a surprise the following morning. As I got up out of bed and staggered to the bathroom half-asleep, I noticed something oozing down my leg. I think I came during the night.
I’m not sure if I got the Octopussy back out while I was sleeping and finished myself off or what. I mean, I’m pretty sure I’ve masturbated in my sleep before. Those suspicions were confirmed plenty of times when I’ve literally caught myself red-handed after fingering myself in my sleep during my period. My hands have horny minds of their own when I’m asleep. I wonder what all they do at night…
On to the Tentacle Masturbation Sessions that I Can Remember…
This baby has been in and out of me pretty much every way possible. Of course, that shouldn’t surprise you.
-Using it while on my back with the tentacle face-up, the Octopussy provided a nice massage to my inner workings. Since the “suckers” on it are really just smooth bumps, the texture provides a nice sensation without being painful. I would definitely recommend getting yourself pretty worked up or using plenty of lube while using the Octopussy to get that smooth, slippery tentacle feel. If positioned just right, I could get the curl of the handle to kiss my perineum. Just the thought of another tentacle trying to get in my back door was driving me over the edge. Afterall, tentacle sex almost always involves multiple penetrations. The bumps feel great rubbing against my g-spot and the Octopussy is curved slightly to come in better contact with it and let you rock it against it. Great for those who want a good sturdy pressure on their g-spot.
-Using it while on my back with the handle facing my front, I could get some clit stim action with the handle. It wasn’t a lot, but it was just what I wanted. I think what’s interesting about using it this way is that it looks like a curled tentacle is coming out of my pussy. I was the Octopussy for a bit.
lol
-I also like using it this way while on my tummy. With my pelvis lifted slightly, I can reach my left arm behind my back and between my legs to grasp the handle of the Octopussy and control the thrusting. This lifts the handle enough out of the way of my clit so that I can flick/swirl/rub the middle finger of my right hand over it. I think that’s probably been my best orgasm with the Octopussy and my favorite method.
-The bumpy “sucker” face of the Octopussy feels great over my labia and clit. Perfect for teasing. And, although it doesn’t look like a realistic tentacle, I think it does feel fairly realistic if you close your eyes and just use a bit of imagination.
-Has this tentacle invaded my tush? Yes, it has. (Remember to relax and lube up properly when using anal toys!) I don’t particularly like it, but some might. It’s not that the texture bothers me; I’m just not too keen on using glass sex toys for anal toys. I like the plushness and the give that silicone anal toys provide.
-I did eventually get hubby to mess with me with the Octopussy. Aside from the fact that he really needs to learn not to jab me with sex toys (stop ramming my cervix!
), it helped indulge a certain dream I had a while ago of him being part tentacle monster.
Ok, so I’m kinda warped… I’m sure some of you find it sexy, though.
Material: The Octopussy is made of hand-blown pyrex glass. The glass is hypoallergenic, nonporous and body safe. Run the Octopussy under warm water or pop it in the fridge. Personally, I like it warm. The Octopussy really heats up while it’s in me, and it feels great to slowly insert/remove it, losing myself in the thought of a warm, living tentacle in me.
Lube: Any type of lube will do. I suggest something a bit thicker like Sliquid H2O so that the lube won’t just slide off the smooth surface of the Octopussy. When applying lube, I squirt it down the middle where the crease is like squeezing ketchup on a hotdog in a bun. Keeps the lube from going where I don’t want it to.
Care: Clean your glass sex toys by boiling, soap and water, dishwasher (I wouldn't recommend it with a full load, though. You don't want things bumping into it and causing little chips or cracks.) wipe it down with rubbing alcohol, or you could wipe it down with 10% bleach (I hate the smell, though.) I usually wash my Octopussy with soap and water. Be extra careful to clean down in that crease! I recommend a soft toothbrush to make sure you get everything squeaky clean. Always check for scratches or chips, as inserting a damaged glass sex toy can damage your insides.
Storage: Many glass sex toys come with a soft and velvety padded pouch to store them in. Unfortunately, I did not find any included in the package. It would have been nice of Pipedream to include a padded velvet storage pouch, but oh well. At least I know how to sew and can make my own. You can make one yourself or buy one. Glass sex toys are safe to store near any sex toy. (It’s best to keep any other sex toys that aren’t glass separate from each other. You don’t want the different materials reacting and melting. Trust me, it can happen.)
Packaging: No problems at all. Sleek and sophisticated with no smut in sight. Comes in a box with a magnetic flap that reveals a window to view the Octopussy, which is cradled in a Styrofoam form. Does anyone else think the form resembles a cock and balls, or is it just me?
Rating: 5/5 But really, I think the rating can fluctuate depending on whether or not you wanted a realistic tentacle sex toy. I was slightly bummed at first that it didn’t look as real as my other tentacles, but I was soon won over by the sparkle (I have a shiny complex) and the fact that hubby might not figure out what it is. And, if he does, maybe it could be a gateway toy to letting him know about my other tentacle sex toys. I’ve come to think of the Octopussy not as a squid or octopus, but more like a Japanese tentacle monster. I think it’s the veins underneath. I’m not sure. Either way, it’s a unique addition to my tentacle sex toy collection and I love it!

Love it! So gorgeous and tentacle-y. I think you should show your Hubby the others... I mean, he thinks he was a dragon, for dildo-sakes, I think he can handle tentacles :D
lol Yeah, I guess you're right, but I'm too much of a chicken! >.<
Awesome! I want one! I passed this one up but now I wish I hadn't! Boo hoo, being a sex toy reviewer is soooo hard... ;)
*chuckles* I know. I feel your pain, dear. ^-^
It sounds like being a sex toy reviewer would be quite fun. I wonder how one would get into doing that kind of work?
I've made a list of my fav companies to review for here: http://truepleasures.blogspot.com/2009/10/so-you-want-free-sex-toys-vibrators.html

Ahh! I love it! Thank you for sharing the link with us :)
dawn
You're welcome! ^-^
Yay, another tentacle toy! I love glass and harder materials, and the fact that it's textured is awesome. I think the silicone ones would have to feel more like a real tentacle, but this is definitely on my wish list!
The silicone ones definitely do feel more like a real tentacle, but they don't have the bling factor of this baby. *shing! sparkle! sparkle!*
I guess it comes in any color as long as you want pink. Sorry
im actually not a fan of tentacles and the like but ive been eyeing this thing for a long time now. I love glass and pipedreams makes some pretty awesome stuff o.o
Yeah, Pipedream has actually made some nice glass toys. I'm not really a fan of the rest of their products, though. They're a bit on the cheap side.
I'm not a huge fan of most tentacle sex toys, but this one is so pretty!
I guess you could say this is the fancier version of most tentacle sex toys. Less tentacle, more glam.
This review had my full attention, then I saw this toy in Babeland's store and swooned at the beauty, weight, and texture. I've had it for a year now and it is my favorite non vibrational toy for vulvar play. It's just awesome the way it almost drives itself.
One of these days, I swear I'll make it to a Babeland store. Living states away doesn't make things easy. I can just imagine the way they had it displayed; probably glistening under a spotlight.
It really is beautiful and a wonderful toy. I just wish it would have come with a padded pouch to keep it safe during storage.
Any tips for getting the lady to take the plunge into the realm of less-than-orthodox toys? She's a bit trepedacious at the moment.
That's really something she's going to have to become comfortable with on her own. The main thing is not to push her. If she says she doesn't want to, let it be, and let her know the reasoning behind why you brought it up. I've had my husband just push things on me with little explanation, which upset me greatly.
Maybe getting some less-than-orthodox toys for yourself would be a good idea. If she sees how you enjoy them, she may start to get curious. Just be patient. She'll come around to them in her own time. And, if she doesn't, then just be understanding and support her decision. That in itself means a lot.
