Curious as to where the trend for nipple piercings came from? It actually dates back farther than you may think. We may think we're on the cutting edge now, but we're not the ones who started it all.
Let's go back to the time of the Roman Centurions. This is when nipple piercings are rumored to have begun. That is, however, just an urban legend. The only evidence of Romans having nipple piercings is from a photograph of a baroque statue in Versailles. The statue in the photo is wearing a breastplate with rings for attaching a cape. That's probably where it all got started. Although they were just breastplate piercings, Romans actually did pierce the foreskin. So, there are some skeptics who think it's fair to assume that a certain number of Roman fetishists also applied these piercings to actual nipples, not just breastplate ones.
Moving on to the Karankawa Native Americans, they are an extinct nomadic people that previously inhabited the Gulf Coast of Texas who would pierce both nipples and their lower lip with small pieces of cane. (Ouch! Can I just take non piercing nipple jewelry instead, please?) Apparently, it’s a wonder they could even heal those piercings without terrible infections. They’d smear their bodies with a mixture of alligator or shark grease and dirt. I’m just going to assume the grease has some sort of antiseptic qualities. Although that tribe is long gone, nipple piercing is still practiced in the Mountains of Algeria, by women of the nomadic Kabyle tribe.
If we jump over to the 14th century, you’ll discover nipple piercing becoming very popular among women. Many women, during that time, wore necklines that were so low, you could nearly see half their breasts. Some upper class garments, introduced by Queen Isabella of Bavaria, were actually open to the navel. Of course, such little coverage led to freely displaying nipples and dressing them up with rouge. Eventually, the rogue to make them “little apples of paradise” wasn’t quite enough decoration, and diamond-studded ring or small caps were used to give them more flare. Those, of course, were non piercing body jewelry, but piercing them eventually followed. When pierced, they were adorned with gold nipple chains that were decorated with diamonds.
Then, in the late 1890s, Parisian women started to catch onto the trend. Many expensive jewelry shops started selling what was called the "Bosom Ring". They were a ring for each nipple and were often linked with a delicate chain. Although the medical community was outraged by the cosmetic procedure due to it representing a rejection of the traditional conceptions of the purpose of a woman's body, "Vogue" fully embraced the new jewelry craze, because many women fond it liberating and pleasurable.
After the 1890s, however, interest in nipple piercing dwindled and almost faded out of existence except for one woman who revived it. That woman was Ethel Granger, a piercing legend. By World War II, she had both her nipples pierced, over ten ear piercings in each ear, and numerous other body piercings that would leave most of us in awe.
From then on, a good number of European and American men and women were having their nipples pierced. Female piercings were generally performed within the fashion-conscious and affluent classes, whereas male piercings were practiced by men of the working class fringe. After finding out that sailors and carnies were getting nipple piercings, too, the fashionable folk quickly dropped the practice.
(Just an extra note, this saying goes along with sailors who were said to be pierced as an initiation for crossing certain latitudes: "sailors with pierced nipples adding links for each time the sailor crossed the equator.")
During the hippie days of self-exploration, nipple piercing made a comeback. You can find the roots of modern Body Modification and SM communities during this time. Many men were starting to take interest in nipple piercing, too.
And then there’s the 20th century, which brought a flurry of books on sex, including the The Golden Age of Erotica. This book explained the craze of the 1890s and reignited interest in piercing. Compared to those who came before us, there’s a multitude of ways to adorn nipples, and we try each and every one of them. No class is limited to it either. Even famous people have nipple piercings.

Me: I drank the rest of the Forbidden Fruit mixed with strawberry/guava juice and, after a while, the Chocolate Mint, which I mixed with milk. They both needed something to mask the funky taste.

Hubby: Nothing. I didn't really expect anything, since he didn't imbibe much.
Me: After I finished the Forbidden Fruit, I waited about 15 minutes or so and nothing was happening. At that point, I figured I might as well drink the other one and see what would happen. A little less than 5 minutes after I finished it off, I started feeling hyper. This eventually led me into a hyper, giggly fit in which everything was funny. That was actually a lot of fun. I'd say that lasted around 20-30 minutes before I calmed down and started feeling horny. Sex was pretty much the same, no extra heat or anything special, although I was still wanting more after it was over. I ended up staying up all night and didn't go to bed until sometime around 4am or so. I was too awake and had work to do.
No, I didn't bother to read the warning on the side of the bottle. That would have been silly... Actually, I just noticed that now:

Opinion
It was an interesting experiment, but I don't know if I'd try them again. Material

Construction
Everything looks well-sewn. There aren’t any strings or gaps anywhere. The elastic band feels sturdy and is about 1.5” in width. I don’t expect it to lose its elasticity anytime soon.
Fit
The RodeoH Harness requires a snug fit, so you’ll need to keep that in mind when ordering. The extra small is perfect for me. Laid flat, the elastic band measures about 12” across, but it stretches to about 15”. So, if you’re about 24”-30” around the hips, the extra small should fit you just fine. I’ve found that the elastic band doesn’t have as much give as the rest of the briefs, so it may cut you a little funny, if you’ve got extra fat around your hips and butt.
Comfort
I’ve had no issues with the RodeoH Harness being uncomfortable. It really is just like a soft pair of briefs to lounge around in with a cute tank top. Unlike most traditional harnesses, you can wear this one under your clothes as normal underwear and be ready when the time is right, so long as you have a dildo handy.
Use as a Harness
You’ll notice there’s a black background in the o-ring. That’s actually a generous fabric pouch on the inside of the harness, that will help keep your dildo in place. The o-ring, only stretches a smidge, so it’s best to stick to dildos with a diameter of 1 1/4"-2". A diameter of 2” is going to take you a little while to squeeze it through the o-ring, but it can be done.
Packing
Since I’ve got a cute, squishy little Soft Pack now, I wanted to see how using the RodeoH Harness for packing would work out.
Once I got it situated just right, it held my flaccid little fake penis in place nicely. At first, I had it down too far and the base of the shaft slipped out of the top of the o-ring a bit.
It doesn’t jostle and wears comfortably all day.
Strap-on
Look! I have an erection now!
Okay… This dildo was a little difficult to squeeze in because of its size, but I did manage it. It’s 1 7/8” in diameter and 7” long. A dildo that is 5”-6” is recommended, but oh well. I couldn’t resist. It also weighs 1lb, so that’s probably why it’s droopy.
For strap-on sex, you won’t have to worry about anything coming loose. The band is tight, and the o-ring keeps everything steady no matter what. Plus, it’s like having sex with your underwear on. Somehow, it just seems more intimate than a dildo in a regular harness.

Lubes
All I’m going to say is if it stains fabric, it’s going to stain this harness, so be careful. It’s best to stay away from anything oil-based or silicone-based, if you’re going to lube the dildo up that you plan on using in this harness.
Cleaning
The cleaning instructions are printed on a small tag inside the harness. Machine wash cold (I prefer to hand wash) and hang to dry. Do not iron, use bleach, or stick it in the dryer.
Opinion
First of all, I love the look of the RodeoH Harness. I actually have a couple pairs of underwear that look a bit like this, and they’re some of my favorite undies. This harness is soft, comfortable, easy to wash, doubles as a regular pair of underwear, and gives me the option to strap-on at the drop of a hat.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one weird enough to do this, but just think of dressing a closet door up like a phone booth, stepping in with the RodeoH Harness under your clothes, then stepping out stripped down with a dildo in it, ready to do someone! Maybe I’ve seen too much Superman…

First Impressions
The Minna Ola comes in a rather stylish and sturdy tube, nestled in a little foam stand for display. Underneath the foam stand is a storage bag, the adapter, a small manual, and a sticker. I could use the tube for storage, but it’s way longer than the Ola; I’ll just use the silver storage bag instead and recycle the tube.
Also, I find it interesting that, although the tube does do a nice job of advertising the basics of the Ola and says it’s “body-safe”, it doesn’t actually say what material it’s made of…
Anyway, it comes fully charged right out of the box, so you don’t have to wait around to play with it. Love that! I started messing with it the minute I got it out of the packaging.
The squeeze pad is so squishy! It’s like playing with a mini waterbed, but it’s just filled with air! This kept me entertained for a while until I got the directions out to see how it works. After turning it on, I messed around with it for quite a bit. Feeling it play back my own patterns that I created started to sort of turn into a little game after a while, almost like Simon Says.
I also noticed that there’s a light seam running along the entire toy. It’s nothing that’s going to hurt but it is noticeable and, aesthetically, it annoys me. Quality toys like this should be cleaned up to have completely smooth seams, in my opinion.
Texture
Aside from the seam, the silicone of the Ola is soft and smooth, with a matte finish. The soft pad feels velvety, to me.
How Responsive is the Pad?
The soft pad of the Ola is very sensitive the slightest touch will invoke vibration. Gentle strokes/taps/squeezes result in gentle vibration and, the firmer the pressure your put on the pad, the more intense the vibration. Ola’s response exactly reflects the user’s intentions.
Controls
Actually, I think Shannon from Babeland does a wonderful job of explaining things:
The controls are very easy and intuitive. I’ve had no issues getting used to them or having the Ola save my vibration patterns or anything.
Experience
I love the Ola for clitoral stimulation. Teasing myself through the soft pad is a lot easier with the Ola than with traditional vibrators. There’s no repeated button pushing just to cycle through to the pattern or intensity I want, if I want to switch things up, I’m in complete control of that.
As for internal use, the gentle curve is nice for g-spot stimulation and being able to easily control the vibrations definitely helps get the job done. As one who is used to bigger toys, though, Ola is a little on the thin side to satisfy me completely.
I have used this anally, with a condom on for easy cleanup. It’s about the perfect size for that. Using the Ola anally while having my husband in my vagina is a great way to share the vibrations. If I sync the pulsing with his thrusts, it makes things more intense for the both of us.
This has been the best vibrator my husband and I have had for couple’s play. Instead of him fiddling about trying to get the thing to work, all he has to concentrate on is his touch. Recharging Ola and Re-inflating the Soft Pad
The white adapter for the Ola contains both attachments for charging the toy and for re-inflating the squeeze pad.
The triangular bit attaches to the little dotted oval on the Ola below the embossed logo. It simply clips onto the area magnetically. You’ll need to charge the Ola for 3 hours after you run down its initial charge. Ola’s power light will pulse while charging and both lights will pulse slowly when the toy is fully charged.
When you turn Ola on, it’ll give you an indication of the charge with how many pulses it gives you.
- 3 pulses = full charge
- 2 pulses = medium charge
- 1 pulse = low, and needs to be charged
The ring-like button will also blink with the number of pulses.
During travel, changes in elevation may affect the inflation level of the squeeze pad. To remedy this, just pop the triangular bit off the adapter and use the little plug to press into the small hole at the squeeze pad end of Ola. This will automatically adjust the squeeze pad to the proper level of inflation. You don’t have to worry about over-inflating it.
I’ve charged the Ola and re-inflated it with no problems. Really, I doubt the soft pad will deflate very quickly. The reason I had to re-inflate mine was because I pressed the plug into the jack when it wasn’t plugged in and some of the air hissed out. I know, I shouldn’t have done that. Oh well.
Opinion
Overall, I really like the Minna Ola. It’s easy to control and seems so much more personal than traditional vibrators. The only couple of things I would like is a smoother seam and a little more girth. Despite those two nitpicky things, I love to experiment with my Ola. Whatever I’m in the mood for, it can provide it for me. It’s a vibe with no limits!

Scene: My childhood home

Material
The Exotic Breakaway Thong is made of nylon. It’s basically just mesh with a solid trim.
Fit
Well, it doesn’t fit like the image on the package. The shape of the front looks a little different on me. It’s supposed to be a one-size-fits-all (XS-XXL). The straps do stretch quite a bit, but I’m not sure this would really fit up to XXL. The mesh panel doesn’t stretch, which makes me think that it’ll have to ride lower in the front and back. However, I’m pretty small, so I’m not sure.
Dimensions: 25” waist (will stretch to fit up to 37-1/2”); 22” thighs (will stretch to fit up to 28”)
Does It Break Away?
Yes and no. If I try to rip it off myself, I succeed about half of the time on one side. When my husband tried to rip it off, he tugged quite a bit, then it released and the plastic clip snapped me on the thigh while the other side stayed put to make sure the thong gave me a wedgie. Other attempts resulted in pretty much the same thing…
On the plus side, the clips haven’t broken yet. It seems like the trick of it is to hold onto the sides of the clips, pull up on one side and down on the other, then yank. Why the clips on either side don’t face the same direction, I’m not sure. And I’m not talking about the second image either. What I mean is that the clips on the right side of the thong are meant to unclip down and the clips on the left side of the thong are meant to unclip if you lift up. So, you have to figure out which side is which. You can’t just rip it off in the heat of the moment.
Packaging
I can’t really say anything about the packaging. I found the picture of it online. My Exotic Breakaway Thong just came in a cellophane bag.
Well, the bag had an adhesive flap and was sealed nicely, anyway.
Cleaning/Care Instructions
The instructions are on a little tag sewn into the back. Hand wash the Exotic Breakaway Thong in cold water and let it drip dry. Do not put it in the dryer or try to iron it. You’ll destroy the little breakaway plastic clips, if you do.
Opinion
I’m not that impressed with it. Although I’m glad it doesn’t just pop off during normal wear, it would be nice if it would be easier to yank off without the threat of a wedgie or the snap of a plastic clip. I don’t know. Maybe we’re just going about it the wrong way…
